PDF information:

  • What is a PDF?
    • Websites often provide documents in this PDF format since the majority of computer users have a PDF reader / plug-in. Rather than provide links to Word documents, or spreadsheets that users may not be able to access due to incompatable versions, providing access to these files in PDF format avoids these type of complications for the user.
    • Creating a PDF file from any program (Word, Excel, etc.) using a PDF writer is a quick an easy-to-use process whereby you simply select the "print" command from any application, and select the PDF writer as your printer, which creates PDF documents that can be viewed on any computer with a PDF viewer.
    • Another advantage of using PDF files rather than the original source file (word doc, etc.) is that the person who receives the PDF file is unable to modify your original.
  • Where to get a FREE PDF writer
    • Software995 offers a free PDF writer and is safe and easy to download and use. Visit http://www.pdf995.com/download.html and click on the Download link beside the "Free Converter - version 1.1 (5.0 MB)". This will download the file "ps2pdf995.exe". Once it has been saved to your computer, double click the file to install the program.
    • To begin using the program, open any document that you have in Word or Excel, etc. and select File, Print, and change from your default printer by selecting the PDF995 as your printer, then click OK. You will then be prompted to select a new file name and a location on your computer. (You may keep the same filename and location as the original document, since the extension will be .pdf and will not overwrite your original document.)
  • Completed Forms on this Site to a PDF
    • Once you've installed the PDF writer, or you have one of your own, complete the Form(s) on this site, and Print to a PDF. Then send it via email with that PDF as an attachment. If you have any questions regarding the PDF process, please contact us.
